This morning we went to the park to play and have a picnic. On our way home I saw a turtle in the road. I asked Lauren if she wanted to get out and put in the grass. She hopped out and put it in the grass on the side of the road. Then I got to thinking that maybe she would want to move it to the grass in our backyard. I was right. She put him in the trunk and we brought him home. We immediately did some research. We found out that he is a painted turtle and we bought some food pellets, fake rocks and logs from the pet store. We then began our search for a pool. We could not find pool anywhere in Katy. Luckily our friend gave us her son's pool. Now Robert has a new home and we have a new pet!

The Mall
Since we have all week off from school; we decided to head to the mall. We walked around (well Lauren and I did) and we did a little shopping. Lauren got some clothes from Children's Place. We played in the play area and went on the carousel. The kids had Burger King in the Food Court and then they got a cookie from Great American Cookie.

Hurricane Ike
This is Daddy's office after Hurricane Ike. We were lucky because we didn't have any damage to our home. We were without power for 14 hours, from 3:00 AM until 5:00 PM on Saturday afternoon. The schools have been closed since Thursday afternoon. They are predicting that we will go back to school on Wednesday. The kids and I ran some errands today. The first Wal-Mart that we went to was closed, there was a generator out front because the store didn't have any power. The next Wal-Mart we went to was open, but they didn't have any perishible items because they had been destroyed during the power outage. Finally we went to a Kroger which had milk, cheese, fruit and very limited meat. During our outing we passed 9 gas stations; 5 were out of gas and 4 had lines that were so long that they had to be policed. We then began our search for McDonald's. We past 3 that were closed, we finally settled on Chik-fil-A luckily they were open and they have a playground.
